Qualifications
18+ years of building inspection experience! Joe Funderburk is the owner of Alpha & Omega Home Inspections, LLC.  There are no employees or sub-contractors--you hire me and you get me. I'm a Nationally Certified Master Home Inspector, International Code Council Certified Commercial Building and Residential Building Inspector, NC Licensed Home Inspector, SC Licensed Home Inspector, Certified Thermographer, Certified Mold Inspector, Certified Indoor Air Consultant, and a member of  the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors. I've totaled thousands of home and commercial building inspections and completed countless hours of training since my inspection business began in 2005, including NC required annual training. I wired and plumbed my own 2800 SF house. I inspected hundreds of homes and commercial buildings as a code inspector for the Town of Clover for three years. Currently in addition to my private inspection business, I am a Commercial Building Inspector and Residential Building Inspector for the City of Rock Hill, SC.

Experience
As mentioned above,
I am currently a Commercial Building Inspector and Residential Building Inspector for the City of Rock Hill, SC. I was also previously the Building Official / Building Inspector for another SC municipality from 2010 to 2013. Previous careers include four years as an Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Compliance Officer inspecting the construction industry in SC. OSHA ingrained in me a detective-like mindset, along with thoroughness, documentation and report writing skills that are the main assets I bring to the inspection industry. While with OSHA, I inspected a major hydro-electric project being built by Duke Power Company, and they hired me. I spent the following eleven years in the electric utility industry with Duke Energy in managerial and scientific positions, including Safety Supervisor at nuclear, fossil, and hydro plants, where I was responsible for safety inspections at large-scale construction and maintenance projects in NC & SC. I began my own building inspection company in 2005.

Education
My formal educational background includes two university Bachelor degrees from Clemson University and Winthrop University.

Our Promise

Choosing the right home inspector can be difficult. Unlike most professionals, you probably will not get to meet me until after you hire me. Furthermore, different inspectors have varying qualifications, equipment, experience, reporting methods, and yes, different pricing. One thing for sure is that a home inspection requires work, a lot of work. Ultimately a thorough inspection depends heavily on the individual inspector's own effort. If you honor me by permitting me to inspect your new home, I guarantee that I will give you my very best effort. This I promise you.

Why Hire Me?

18+ years of experience as a home inspector! Have performed thousands of home inspections since 2005.

Have performed many inspections on multi-million dollar homes of 10,000 SF or more. Previous clients include homeowners in distant states, professional athletes,
    diplomats, and corporate executives.

Nationally certified by the International Code Council.
Licensed Building Official (the top rank of building code enforcement inspectors).
Experienced and licensed code enforcement inspector. Three years of government inspections of new and
remodel construction (residential and commercial) inspections for code compliance.

Licensed as a Home Inspector in NC and SC (Important if you live in SC since there are no stringent licensing
    requirements
in SC and no annual training requirements at all in SC).
 Highly Educated (2 university degrees)
Certified thermographer (use of an infrared camera--most inspectors don't have this tool).
Mold certified. Even if you don't want a formal mold inspection, I am trained to know
when you may have an issue and will bring it to your attention.

Certified Master Inspector by international inspector trade association.

•
Thorough, comprehensive, and quality inspections. I spend lots of time on each home. I never do more than 2 inspections a day.

Many inspectors work on volume and do 4 homes a day at a low price per home, which means they may spend no more than 1.5 hours on your home!
If you hire MY company, you get ME -- not an inexperienced employee or greenhorn franchise owner.
Most inspectors are no more than employees, working on commission, with no "skin in the game".
